In southern part of India, especially in Kerala and Tamil Nadu this is considered as main course dish for breakfast or dinner . To people who don't know what it is <a title="string hoppers" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiyappam" target="_blank">click here</a> to get detailed description. Its nothing but rice flour,salt &amp; water steamed well using a string hopper instrument. Its very tasty and can be paired with multiple choice of dish dish. Its goes well with coconut milk, with <a title="sodhi" href="http://redchillycurry.com/sodhi/" target="_blank">Sodhi/ Coconut Milk Curry</a>, <a title="sambar" href="http://redchillycurry.com/sambar/" target="_blank">Sambar</a>, <a title="vegetable white khurma" href="http://redchillycurry.com/vegetable-white-khurma/" target="_blank">Vegetable khurma</a> and many more. The remaining Idiyappam is broken to pieces and many other variety can also be done. Its called Sevai. I have many Idiyappam sevai in my blog do check it out. <a title="Tomato sevia,tomato idiyappam" href="http://redchillycurry.com/tomato-sevaitomato-kalavai-idiyappam/" target="_blank">Tomato Sevai/ Idiyappam</a>, <a title="tamarind idiyappam" href="http://redchillycurry.com/tamarind-sevaipulli-sevai/" target="_blank">Tamarind Sevai/ Idiyappam</a>, <a title="upma idiyappam,upma sevai" href="http://redchillycurry.com/idiyappam-upma-with-leftover-idiyappam/" target="_blank">Upma Sevai</a>. This is like dosa where you get lot of choices to experiment.</p>

            <h4>Instructions</h4>
            <div class="instructions" itemprop="recipeInstructions">
                <p>1. To make Idiyappam <a title="idiyappam,string hoppers" href="http://redchillycurry.com/idiyapamrice-noodles/" target="_blank">click here</a> for recipe. Now keep the Idiyappam open so its not hot and will be easy to break to pieces. Using your finger just break them little bit( like noodles)Usually this kind of sevai is done with the left over Idiyappam. I always make 2 batch extra so that fresh one is used for dinner and the left over for breakfast.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://redchillycurry.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/li.jpg" width="245" height="162" /><br />
2. In a pan add oil and do the seasoning mentioned, then add green chillies. Saute for some time. Then keep the flame low and squeeze the lemon juice. To this add turmeric powder and salt and leave it for few sec and the minute you see it bubbling switch it off. Then sprinkle fresh coriander leaves and mix it well.<br />
<img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://redchillycurry.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/li1.jpg" width="245" height="162" /><br />
<img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://redchillycurry.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/li2.jpg" width="245" height="162" /><br />
<img class="aligncenter" alt="" src="http://redchillycurry.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/li3.jpg" width="245" height="162" /><br />

</center><!-- End GADSWPV-3.16.4 --><p style="text-align: center;">I got the opportunity to make this mouth drooling recipe by joining a wonderful group called SNC(South VS North Challenge) Yep sounds interesting right???that's correct that's how I was pulled inside this challenge. <a title="Divya" href="http://youtoocancookindianfood.blogspot.com/2012/12/snc-round-up-for-month-of-november-snc-2.html" target="_blank">Divya</a> MASTER mind and creator behind this wonderful event was kind enough to include me in her circle.<br />
<img class="aligncenter" src="http://redchillycurry.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/snc-challenge.png" alt="snc challenge,south,north,south vs north" width="200" height="200" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>This is the 3rd month challenge. The rules are pretty interesting. There are 47 members in their SNC group and its divided into two where SOUTH and NORTH challenge against each other. North Team will ask the south group to make one North Indian dish as challenge and south will have to make it. Same way South Team will give our South Indian recipe to North Team and the challenge will begin. The winner calculation is pretty big process so <a title="click" href="http://youtoocancookindianfood.blogspot.com/2012/12/snc-round-up-for-month-of-november-snc-2.html" target="_blank">click here</a> to know in detail.<br />
The challenge for December is now open.... challengers are:<br />
1. Sherin from <a title="sherin" href="http://kukskitchen.blogspot.in/" target="_blank">Kuk's Kitchen</a> has challenged the North Team to make the crispy and tasty MEDHU VADA.<br />
2. Meena from<a title="random rumbling" href="http://chattersmusings.blogspot.com/2012/12/misal-pav.html" target="_blank"> Random Rumblings</a> has challenged a mouth watering street side food MISAL PAV.<br />
This task has to be completed by the month end of DEC 31 and here I go to explain my recipe.</p>
<p>Misal Pav is perfect for dinner. I felt so bad how I missed such a wonderful dish when I went to Pune,next time When I am in India I must taste it. I am a big lover of Pav bread Recipes an I was super excited to try this. The process is little lengthy but when you taste your misal pav you will feel that every effort is Worth it. It is not only gravy but it has dry and fresh sprouts mix and then farsan mix(sweet and tangy mixture mix) is also added and then topped with onion and tomatoes and garnished with fresh coriander leaves and they look so colorful and its stunning. I can guarantee that one cannot resist its charm.<br />
I belong to South Team and we have been challenged to make MISAL PAV and here goes the recipe of how to make this yummy drooling Maharashtra Street Side food MISAL PAV.</p>

            <div class="instructions" itemprop="recipeInstructions">
                <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><em><strong>First step to make Gravy/Rassa/Kut</strong></em></span>:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://redchillycurry.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/mip.jpg" alt="" width="245" height="162" /><br />

<em><strong>How To Make Usal</strong></em>:<br />
<img class="aligncenter" src="http://redchillycurry.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/mip1.jpg" alt="" width="245" height="162" /><br />
4. Soak moth beans/Matki in the night for 8-10 hrs. Then wash it well and tie it in a dry cloth to get sprouts. Matki sprouts are traditionally used in misal pav but if you don't get it in store you can use white peas too.<br />
<img class="aligncenter" src="http://redchillycurry.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/mip2.jpg" alt="" width="245" height="162" /><br />
5. Now in pan add some oil and add ginger garlic paste saute them well ,then to this add matki sprouts/Moth bean sprouts and fry for few more mins. Then add boiled potatoes(cube them to small pieces). To this add Goda masala (If you don't have Goda masala just use turmeric powder &amp; red chilly powder)then add salt to taste.<br />
<img class="aligncenter" src="http://redchillycurry.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/mip3.jpg" alt="" width="245" height="162" /><br />
6. Add 1 cup of water and let it boil for 5 mins. The sprout gives little bitterness add little sugar to remove the bitterness and when the water gets boiled completely and becomes dry remove them and keep it separate in a bowl.<br />
<img class="aligncenter" src="http://redchillycurry.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/mip4.jpg" alt="" width="245" height="162" /><br />
