Pasi Paruppu Payasam/Moong Dal Payasam
This post is very special to me,yup its my 100th post hurrayyyyyyyy!!!! so happy to post this special sweet on this day.I love this healthy moong dal payasam, its made on special occasions like vinayaka chadhurthi and krishna jayanthi. They are made as offering to god.Roasting the dal is very important, because that enhances the flavor even more.So here it is to everyone who's been visiting my site regularly and motivating me more.Thank you friends.I am enjoying every bit of blogging.
- Prep Time : 10 minutes
- Cook Time : 20 minutes
- Yield : 2
Ingredients
- Moong dal/Pasiparupu - 1/2 cup
- Coconut cream or coconut milk - 2 cup
- Ghee - 5 tsp
- Raisins - 1 tsp
- Cashew nuts - 3 tsp
- Coconut,cut to thin slices - 2 tsp
- Elachi - 1/4 tsp
- Jaggery - 3/4 cup
Instructions
1.Fry moong dal in ghee for few min,do not let it turn brown.Just fry them little bit till you get the roasted fragrance.Pressure cook them(approximately with 1 1/2 cup of water)do not over cook, texture is very important. So just semi cook them and mash it mildly and keep it separate.
2.Dilute the jaggery in little water and keep it aside.
3.In a pan heat ghee and saute raisins & cashew nuts. Then chop coconut pieces to thin slices and fry them for a min. Then add the mashed moong dal and stir for a min.Add more ghee if required.
4.Then add elachi powder and mix it well, then slowly add jaggery water and mix them too without forming any lumps.Add 1 cup of coconut milk and mix it well too.Traditionally coconut milk is used it brings a very good flavor to it, but few use regular milk too,I have used canned coconut milk here.
5.Let everything boil for a min and switch it off when the required consistency is reached.
