Erra(RED) Kaaram Dosa(Andhra Speciality-Rayalasemma)
Today is the 5th day of our A-Z BLOGGING MARATHON conducted by srivalli and I am posting this ERRA DOSA under the Regional category. Also linking this to Preeti.
I have always came across this dosa but always thought it had non-veg in it because in tamil when you say "Erra" it means PRAWNS, so I never had any interest in knowing about this one. Finally one day when I was talking to one of my friend about Andhra based specialty food and she mentioned how good these dosa would taste when she did her college near Kadapa. I knew she was a pure vegetarian girl and hesitatingly asked her "Isn't Erra dosa non-veg???" and she smilingly said " No, its not" It's the color they called that way .wow what a confusion with language. So I made it very next day and I loved it. Its always good to know varieties in Dosa right??? what do u say???? Since then this dosa has been regular at home hubby loves it.
I like the addition of dalia powder(pottu kadalai)as spread this really neutralizes the spice taste from garlic(red Chutney) Initially I learned this from TheChefandherkitchen Website thank you prathibha for introducing this lovely recipe to me.
