Whole White Bread(Using Tangzhong Method)

By March 15, 2013

Hi friends,

Now its our next recipe for this month from BAKING GROUP CHALLENGE , to know more about them click here. This is a group where a big group of bloggers get together and share few recipe and everyone bakes it. I love this group they are so supportive. They help each other in every discussion, yes we do have a discussion group fun right??? This time it was to bake bread using Tangzhong method and I choose to bake WHOLE WHITE BREAD because I love it.

I thought it was going to be really tuff and its impossible to bake soft fluffy bread at home.I was so wrong the bread was super soft and I loved it. Few I sliced and tossed it and spread Nutella spread on top. Rest I made it as garlic bread will post that soon. No more buying white bread outside. It was fun baking it Thank you Swathi for this lovely recipe.  Loved baking it.

  • Prep Time : 20 minutes
  • Cook Time : 1 hr 30 minutes

Ingredients

Instructions

1. In a bowl add 50/50 water and milk. To this add sieved flour of all purpose flour and mix it well with a whipper/beater,so that no lumps are formed. Then place them on a stove and heat it up to medium high and keep stirring until the dough becomes thick. A line will form in 2 mins stop stirring then. That's the perfect consistency. This is called Tangzhong method.

2. Now sieve the flour and add salt, sugar, yeast and mix it well. Then add 1 cup of milk and half portion of the above prepared tangzhong dough and mix it well. To this add butter and knead them well for 10 mins till they are non-sticky and elastic. It requires lot of energy and patience(I must get a kitchen aid mixer soon)

3. When it reaches that elastic form, grease another bowl with oil and place this dough inside it and cover it up with cling wrap and let it rest fr one hour. It will double in size. Then punch them well with hands to remove the air and again let it sit for 30 more min.

4. Now roll them flat with a roller and roll them in all possible direction. Fold to right, left then side to all direction. Then nicely punch them and roll it like thick log and keep it separate.

5. Now grease a bread loaf pan with a non-stick oil and place the dough inside. Now bake it at 350 deg F and let it bake for 35-40 min or until the top turns golden in color. When you hit the bread you will hear a hollow sound that shows bread is done. Now remove them and let it cool for 15 mins.

6. Now nicely slice them up and spread any topping you want. Fresh home made bread is ready. Hmm whole house smells awesome.
