Nelikai Thovayal(Gooseberry Chutney)

By March 19, 2013

I made this chutney because I was bored of this regular ones. I don't get fresh gooseberries here in NY so I used frozen one but I am sure fresh would taste even better. This goes well with dosa and its definitely guest recommended. I am a person who loves lots of variety in my food and I kind of liked its flavor for sure. My mom was behind me to try this out and my hubby loved it a lot. Recipe is very simple and here it goes...

  • Prep Time : 5 minutes
  • Cook Time : 10 minutes
  • Yield : 4

Ingredients

Instructions

1. Chop gooseberry to fine pieces. Then add oil in a pan and fry them. Keep it separate. Like wise fry all the above ingredients like coconut, urad dal, coriander seeds, Channa dal and red chillies.

2. Now add garlic raw without frying and then make a fine paste by adding little salt and water. The thickness of this chutney can be adjusted according to our wish.

3. Now in a kadai do the seasoning mentioned above and mix it well with chutney and serve it crispy dosa and enjoy your breakfast/dinner.
