Tomato Pulav(Tangy & Sweet)

By December 28, 2012

This tomato pulav is so simple to make and kids will love it. I have seen kids asking for more because of its tangy and sweet combination. If you have a fuzzy child who is very particular about food, just try this and tell me how much they enjoyed. My daughter loves it. Whenever I need to travel for long in car I pack this for her and she happily finishes it . Its good for working people too, quick to pack to office. Basmathi rice is the main thing here so don't substitute with regular rice, all kids love the flavor of basmathi ,so use only that.

  • Prep Time : 10 minutes
  • Cook Time : 15-20 minutes
  • Yield : 3

Instructions

1. In a pan add some ghee or oil saute cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf, jeera, ginger garlic paste for a min. To this add finely chopped onion, tomatoes and saute them well.

2. Now when the tomatoes are pulpy enough add tomato sauce and mix it well for a min, to this add some turmeric powder, chilly powder and pav bhaji masala, salt and mix it well.

3. Add the peas and let it cook for 5 min,add little water and let it cook for 5 more mins. Then remove them from fire and add the cooked basmathi rice and mix it well.

4. Finally garnish it with freshly chopped coriander leaves. Enjoy with potato chips or papad.

NOTES:
1. If you are making it exclusively for your child skip the cinnamon, cloves, bay leaf part. Just add jeera and other stuff.
2. Avoid red chilly powder too, pav bhaji masala spice is very mild and that is good enough for kids. But if you are making it for an adult follow all the steps above.
