Palak Puri/Spinach Poori

By March 8, 2013

I have been eying this recipe for quite some time, I remember having this puri in many parties and I always wanted to try them. I had some fresh bunch of spinach in my fridge and took them immediately and made it. I liked it for two reason one is the color and second being the health factor,of course the taste too..... that would be 3 reason then right??? well over all it was really good. I made heart shaped, flower shaped puri with this and gave it to my daughter she too loved it. For once puri can be eaten with less guilt(now its just not oily food it has palak too,so its def healthy puri) I love this puri with methi moong dal or you can have it with any panner side dish too. It will taste delicious.

Ingredients

Instructions

1. Wash and chop the spinach to small pieces, then add 1/2 glass of water and boil them in microwave for a min.

2. Keep the boiled water separate and pulp them to paste in a blender adding green chillies and ginger.

3. Then add the pulp to wheat flour, add carom seeds and salt and make a soft dough with the left over spinach boiled water.

4. Roll them to balls and roll it flat like how we do for regular puri and deep fry them in oil. It will puff up nicely.

5. Collect them in a tissue paper and serve it hot with methi moong dal or any panner recipes.

palak adds a lot of nutrition to whatever it is added. i usually make saag or palak rice or add them to parathas.
