Bottle Gourd Dosa/Sorakkai Dosa
Sorakai Dosa/Bottle Gourd Dosa is quite popular dosa in my family. My mom was very famous for this. She always impressed our guest with this crispy tasty dosa. Its good to include this vegetable in our day to day life.It has lot of water content in it and is easy for digestion. I have served it with coconut chutney.
- Prep Time : 10 minutes
- Cook Time : 20 minutes
- Yield : 2
Ingredients
- Bottle Gourd/Sorakai - 2
- Raw Rice - 2 cup
- Green chillies - 5
- Ginger - 1' inch
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Asofaetida(hing) - a pinch
- For Seasoning
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Urad dal(ulandham paruppu) - 1 tsp
- Curry leaves - as per tatse
- Jeera - 1 tsp
- Onion - 1
- Coriander leaves,finely chopped - 1/2 bunch
Instructions
1.Chop onions finely and grind the ginger and green chillies together to fine paste and keep aside.
2.Soak rice for 3 hrs in a bowl and grind them to fine consistency like dosa dough.
3.Grate bottle gourd like cheese then steam it well for 5 min in a pan/kadai keeping the lid close,do not add water because the vegetable oozes water on its own. This steaming will allow the dosa to get cooked soon.
4.Then mix it well it with rice dough. Then add ginger & green chillies paste and mix it well.
5.Heat oil in kadai , add the seasoning item one by one & fry for a min then transfer it to the dough mix add turmeric pow and salt.Spread some coriander leaves and mix it well.Add little water to the dough is can be little loose not too loose though then it becomes difficult to stick to the pan.
6.Heat iron griddle/flat pan and pour dosa and spread it well, pour some oil and keep the stove in medium high so that it gets cooked well.It takes little time to get cooked evenly so have patience.
7.Turn the dosa to other side both sides must turn golden brown in colour.
8.Serve this dosa with coconut chutney/podi.

Hmm it appears like your website ate my first comment (it was super long) so I
guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly
enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any helpful hints for inexperienced blog writers? I’d
definitely appreciate it.
